Quarters

Type of Game: Coin Number of Players: 2 or 4

Materials needed :
Solid table
6 Solo or other drinking cups
Quarters

Here is the set up for quarters : 6 cups as you can see, 3 on each side.  The object of the game it to bounce the quarter off the table and into the cups on the opposite side.   Usually one or two beers is used to fill the six cups.

Find a good solid table to play on.   Some surfaces may be too bouncy or not bouncy enough.   Make sure you chose a good playing surface (be careful, quarters dent some wooden surfaces)

The 3 cups closest to you are "your cups"
The 3 on the other side of your cups are your opponents.  The goal is to sink the quarter in these.

The first game of the night, flip a coin to see which team goes first.     Games are played either 1-on-1,  2-on-2.       Turns rotate, so one player per team shoots, then one person from the other team shoots.    The first player tries to bounce the quarter on their side, into the opponents cups.    If you bounce the quarter into your opponents cup they must drink it, but if you hit your own cup (a good way to get your partner very angry at you)  you must drink it.   When a cup is made, the cup is turned upside down.    The game is over when all of your cups or your opponents are hit.     The loser drinks the remaining cups left on the table.

The quarter may bounce off an upside down cup into another cup.  This is a valid bounce.
If the quarter lands on an upside down cup(including touching the lip of another cup), the shooter gets another shot..

If the quarter lands on the rim of two cups or one cup (it has somehow happened before) the shooter's team wins the game and the other team drinks the remaining cups.

If a cup is hit on a practice or out of turn, it is a party foul, and that player must drink the cup and refill it.

Optional rule :  Practicing must be done by bouincing the quarter and catching it.    If a practice bounce isn't caught it counts as your shot.   (This rule eliminates a player missing a shot and claiming it was a practice bounce)

Games are usually played in series of seven or sometimes five.

Variations :  Usually the 7th game of the first series of the night (if it goes to a 7th game) is played with full cups (1 beer per cup).
